Firm Overview

New Orleans, Louisiana, Personal Injury Lawyer

Our law firm has served New Orleans since 1977. In a civil law practice that has grown over three decades, attorney Glenn McGovern continues to serve clients in our city, nationwide and internationally.

Our purpose is obtain the maximum recovery possible for our clients who are injured, disabled or killed by unsafe or defective products, corporate negligence, insurance bad faith, discrimination and environmental negligence — holding wrongdoers accountable for the harm they cause. In the area of employment law, we hold employers accountable for acts of discrimination and retaliation against whistleblowers.

Accolades and Accomplishments

Our dedication to hard work has helped us achieve a record of success. While each case is unique and must be assessed on its own merits, we have been successful in obtaining many verdicts and settlements over a million dollars for our clients. Attorney Glenn McGovern is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, one of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States. He is also AV Rated by Martin-Dale Hubbell in 2008 and 2009, and listed in Super Lawyers 2009.

Some of the most notable examples of our accomplishments include cases in the area of police brutality, toxic poisoning and other product liability:

  • $4.9 million dollar settlement for improper police procedures due to handcuffing a retail customer
  • $90,000 judgment for improper handcuffing and harassment for a 20-minute traffic stop
  • $265,000 settlement for a defective toy that injured a child's eye and was banned from the market in the U.S.
  • $73 million dollar judgment for personal injury due to toxic creosote poisoning
  • $10.5 million settlement for insurance bad faith failure to defend
  • $2.83 million judgment on March 19, 2009, for a motorcycle rider whose leg was amputated in a SUV wreck

We approach every personal injury case we take in the same manner — with dedication to hard work. We carefully listen to our clients and work closely with them to develop the best course of action and legal strategies for their needs. Whether the strategy calls for settlement, alternative dispute resolution or trial, we are ready and willing to pursue that course of action fully and forcefully.

How We Rebuilt After Hurricane Katrina

Our law office has been in New Orleans since 1977, and we have no intention of leaving. Even though the building was flooded with four feet of water during Katrina, the ceiling collapsed and the remaining structure filled with toxic black mold, we continue our dedication to this city. Our new office location is in Metairie, adjacent to New Orleans, and the closest, safest location we could reasonably find.

Our clients have never been more important to us and we recognize that they have never needed us more. We have handled many bad faith insurance litigation claims for our clients who have suffered property damages due to Hurricane Katrina, and then their property insurers did not pay said claims timely. We have learned that it is clients — not computers or law books — that truly make a law firm. As long as the citizens of New Orleans continue to return and rebuild, we will be here.
